At the Ekana Stadium, LSG won a thrilling match. With only 36 runs scored, LSG was 3 down but was able to tie the game thanks to a partnership of 82 runs (59) between Marcus Stoinis and Skipper Krunal Pandya. Stoinis appeared to be pitching on a whole other pitching pitch. The match’s pivotal over came in the 18th over of the first innings, which Jordan bowled and in which he gave up 24 runs. Stoinis completed his 89 from 47 balls undefeated. As MI chased 178, Rohit Sharma and Ishan scored 90 runs off of 58 deliveries to get MI off to a fast start. Ishan Kishan scored 59 runs at a 151 percent strike rate. LSG was able to remain in the game thanks to Ravi Bishnoi’s two openers. Tim David was under added pressure since he had to move at 12 r.p.o. on a somewhat sluggish track because the MI middle order had failed to ignite. David hit three maximums and one four, but MI was unable to cross the finish line. Delivering the final over, Mohsin Khan maintained composure to defend 11 off the final over. In the end, MI lost by a score of 5 runs.
The player of the game is Marcus Stoinis.
Marcus Stoinis said “A truly wonderful moment. Mohsin hasn’t played in a while, so bowling the decisive over after being hurt is a major deal. Mohsin completed the victory for us with a couple of strong overs from the spinners. There are no true superstars on our squad, and we have demonstrated that we are a tough group by having a variety of players step up and contribute to our success. Although KL is not with us, KP is directing us, and Andy Flower is a very intelligent coach“.
