MI VS LSG MATCH-72 IPL23
MUMBAI INDIANS WON BY 81 RUNS
MUMBAI INDIANS
182/8
LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS
101
LOCATION – MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
The Super Giants are shocked by the five-time Champions in a quarterfinal match at Chepauk. Although Cam Green and SKY launched a counterattack, scoring 66 before losing to Naveen Ul Haq in the same over, MI lost both of their openers on the powerplay. As of the 11th over, when Naveen Ul Haq used his cunning variations to send back both of the set batters, the momentum had turned in favour of the Super Giants. MI reached a respectable total of 182 thanks to impact player Nehal Wadera’s cameo of 23 points off 12 shots. LSG’s response did not get off to the best of beginnings as they frequently lost wickets. Marcus Stoinis was doing well from one end but the other batters weren’t helping him. The No. 10 over by Akash Madhwal resulted in two wickets, including one significant one of Nicholas Pooran, who has been in outstanding hitting form all season. LSG’s situation was also not helped by a couple severe hiccups in the midst. With 5 for 5, Madhwal outperformed the LSG batting unit and recorded the best season statistics. LSG ultimately came up 81 runs short. Once more, MI advances to the playoffs and will now face GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 26.
Player of the Game is Akash Madhwal
Akash Madhwal said “I have put in a lot of hard work and waiting for my chance. I have done engineering but cricket has always been my passion. I have been waiting for this opportunity since 2018. When we practice the management gives us a target which we try to execute our best. I am happy with the role that the team has given me and glad that it is coming off well. I want to do well in the next matches too to take the team all the way. Out of all the wickets, Pooran’s was my favorite. Would love to keep playing in a similar fashion for my team“
