RAJASTHAN ROYALS WON BY 4 WICKETS
PUNJAB KINGS
187/5
RAJASTHAN ROYALS
189/6
LOCATION – Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala
A close call at Dharamsala that favours the visitor. Although PBKS did not get off to the best of starts, losing 4 wickets for just 50 runs in just 7 overs, the middle order had plenty of punch to stun RR. Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma put together a strong 64 from 44 partnership to keep PBKS in the game. Shahrukh Khan started the onslaught by attacking the opposition, smashing 41 at a strike rate of 178 and pushing PBKS to an intimidating total of 187. With only 6.50 r.p.o. surrendered, Adam Zampa’s spell somewhat curbed PBKS’s ability to score. After recording his fifth duck of the year as a result, Buttler Eaerly was lost to RR once again, but the two Indian Southpaws Jaiswal and Padikkal continued to move along quickly. Hetmyer, who came in at number five, hit three maximums and four fours, which enabled RR to catch up to the requested tempo. The game was won in the final over with two balls remaining thanks to cameos from Parag and Jurel. In order to advance to the playoffs, RR must rely on a few other outcomes while still being competitive in the league.
Player of the Game goes to Devdutt Padikkal.
Devdutt Padikkal said “I felt confident going into the season. But things didn’t work out as I had anticipated. As a cricket player, you want to succeed for your side in every match. It’s been a bizarre season, to be honest. I have taken the field at every position in the batting order. I must get used to batting at every position and learn how to do it. I had doubts about finishing the season at first. But I’m incredibly excited to get this honour tonight.
