CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
226/6
LOCATION – M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
At Chinnaswamy, batting first and defending are difficult tasks. After losing Ruturaj Gaikwad early, CSK played well to put up 226 on the board. The middle-order hitters’ foundation was set by Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane as they continued to play with good intentions. However, it was the alliance between Conway and Shivam Dube that put CSK in charge.Conway scored 83 runs from just 45 balls while Dube scored 52 runs at a strike rate of 193. Except for Mohammad Siraj, who gave up runs at a rate of only 7.5 r.p.o. and took one significant wicket, all of the RCB bowlers gave up runs. In reaction, RCB lost Mahipal Lomror in the second over and Virat Kohli in the first. Glenn Maxwell, though, had other ideas when he came to bat inside Powerplay.CSK appeared powerless in the face of Maxwell’s onslaught as the Australian went on to hit 76 runs off only 36 deliveries, while Faf played second fiddle with 62 runs off 33 deliveries. CSK dropped four catches, which made matters worse and nearly cost them the game. Despite going for runs, CSK’s spinners were able to pick off wickets when they needed to. Faf, the RCB captain, was taken out by Moeen Ali, while Glenn Maxwell was the prize taken out by Theekshana. In Bengaluru, CSK defeated RCB admirably after a strong comeback.
Player of the Game is Devon Conway.
Devon Conway said “I’m quite pleased with how tonight turned out. In my initial games, I didn’t quite get going. Good victory for the team. The only thing I recommend is that you strive to play solid cricket shots. I simply attempt to react under pressure and choose the best course of action for me. I don’t want to come off as overly routine. I’m just trying to throw bowlers off their lengths by using my crease.”
