At the Chinnaswamy Stadium, two elite teams engaged in a cat and mouse game. RR did well to take two wickets in the opening over after deciding to bowl first. Shahbaz Ahmed and Virat Kohli were both out in the opening over. The alliance between Faf and Maxwell was what swayed the tide in RCB’s favour! The RR bowling attack, which lacked a defence against the onslaught, was destroyed by Maxwell’s 77 (44), and Faf’s 62 (39). However, Jaiswal’s brilliant fielding to remove Faf Du Plessis from the game altered the outcome. The RCB hitters were all struggling, and wickets started falling like a deck of cards. When RR was coasting along, Harshal Patel’s spell completely altered the course of the game. At a crucial moment, the bowler used all of his tactics to take three wickets, which made things difficult for RR. Patel finished with 32/3 from his four bowls, and David Willey contributed by using his four-over spell sparingly. RR ultimately missed by 7 runs.

Being in good form going into the season and having the change room’s trust is what makes the difference. We had to work hard and be proactive because the new ball skidded on well. The way we ended the powerplay, in my opinion, laid the groundwork.
