Glenn Phillips: “There were only two possible outcomes in this situation. I’m glad to have won this one. The team needed this today, so we’re all here to fulfil our jobs. It’s great that it worked out, and I had a blast outside today. I was disappointed when the slot machine’s actual ball did not clear the gate. With 17 needed off the last over, I felt like I left a lot out there, but Samad did what he did, and we obviously had a little bit of luck that the no ball. There was no other batsman to even reach the 15-run threshold as RR continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed, a spin-duo from Afghanistan, deserve praise for taking 5 wickets for just 39 runs in 7 overs combined. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha gave GT a strong start by going at 8.1 r.p.o. on the powerplay as they chased a meagre score of 118. A 71-run stand put GT in control and provided RR very little room to mount a comeback. Coming in at number three, Hardik Pandya was serious from the first ball and appeared to be eager to finish the game. The GT Skipper scored 39 runs off only 15 balls to lead GT home with 6.1 overs remaining.
Player of the Game is Rashid Khan.
Rashid Khan siad “I’m not doing anything unusual; I’m just watching to make sure the batters don’t select me. While maintaining the grip manner, I’m attempting to minimise the difference between a leg-spin and a googly. I continue to refine it in the nets because I want it to be perfect. Sometimes I mess up my line and length, but I know that once I get it straight, the batters will have a hard time. I received a penalty for a few of my poor bowls. I therefore only reflect on the past and consult with the video analysts who support my pitch maps.
