In the opening game of the doubleheader, Virat Kohli and company defeat the home team PBKS with ease. Once again, the Challengers’ opening partnership of Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli was responsible for all of the scoring, helping the team’s total to reach 174 on a slow surface. In response, PBKS lost 4 wickets during the powerplay and was unable to recover to win the match. While moving quickly from one end, Prabhsimran Singh started losing companions at the other end. Jitesh Sharma, who entered the game at No. 7, was the one who got the Kings back in the match, but the task got out of hand because he too didn’t have support from the opposite end. Jitesh Sharma received 41(27), compared to Prabhsimran’s 46(30). With the new ball as well as at the end, Mohammad Siraj was simply outstanding. The bowler recorded his best IPL stats of 4 for 21 while giving away nothing to the opposition. PBKS ultimately lost by a margin of 24 runs.
